Community Partners

H.O.M.E. helps low-income seniors in Chicago maintain their independence by providing free home repair, free shopping transportation, and affordable, inter-generational housing for seniors. Ken and Chuck, our volunteers from the Ignatian Volunteer Corps, have become important members of our home repair team and their dedication to our mission and hard work are a testimony to the type of volunteers provided by IVC.

Bruce Otto

Executive Director, H.O.M.E.

Our Ignatian Volunteer Corps members bring inspirational dedication, compassion, and hope to our students.  In a neighborhood plagued by violence, their consistent, compassionate presence with our students is a sign of healing and reconciliation.  It has been said that “hope is believing in spite of the evidence, and watching the evidence change.”  Our Ignatian volunteers exemplify this every day they are here.  Their faith and belief in our students is a treasured gift, and one that is changing our community.

Co-Founder and Director of Mission & External Relations, Catalyst Circle Rock Charter School, Chicago.

Our Ignatian Volunteer Corps volunteer Ruth offers a quiet strength and the gift of hope to clients, boosting their self-esteem and enabling them to make informed decisions about their lives.  The staff was blessed to witness her selflessness and compassion as she sat alongside a client with no family as he was dying, to ensure that he did no pass alone.

Courtney Suchor

Director of Daybreak Center, Catholic Charities, Diocese of Joliet.

We are very lucky to have Mary Ellen with us as an Ignatian volunteer who embodies Christ’s message to love our neighbor.  Not only does Mary Ellen greet and teach each students with love and charity but she continually brings joy to her work and those around her.  We love our partnership with IVC!
