Currie Alumni Partnership for Service

Introducing a new kind of partnership…

Named after Charles Currie SJ, former IVC board member and former president of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities, the Currie Alumni Partnership for Service (CAPS) is a direct response to Jesuit colleges and universities seeking to identify activities that enable their alumni to continue the Ignatian traditions rooted in their early college experience – “service, leadership and caring for the whole person.”

The IVC National Office has selected five academic institutions – Holy Cross College – Worcester, MA; LeMoyne College – Syracuse, NY; Loyola University of Maryland – Baltimore, MD; Marquette University – Milwaukee, WI; and the University of Scranton – Scranton, PA – to begin a year-long pilot project to recruit their alumni to serve as IVC volunteers throughout the United States.

This partnership will leverage the IVC program structure and resources with the academic institutions and will enable the pilot sites to strengthen their relationships with their largest cohort of alumni – those reaching retirement age – by offering them an opportunity for service through a Jesuit-initiated service organization. Results from the pilot project have encouraged IVC to soon move forward with launching a broader partnership effort nationwide in full collaboration with US-based Jesuit colleges and universities.
