Experience Making a Difference

Stories of Service

IVC is a unique national non-profit organization providing men and women age 50 and better with meaningful opportunities to serve others. IVC also provides membership in a faith-sharing community united by a desire for spiritual development in the tradition of St. Ignatius of Loyola.  Ignatian Volunteers have been serving the San Diego community since 2001.

Lives are transformed when Ignatian Volunteers are connected to organizations that welcome their talents and experience. Together we address the greatest social needs of our time. Service Corps members become integral to the ability of our partner agencies to address the ever increasing demands in our community.

IVC San Diego is one of 21 regions operating throughout the United States. Working in partnership with local nonprofit organizations, Ignatian Volunteers utilize their inherent gifts and acquired skills to provide hope and stability to those marginalized by the economic and political realities impacting their lives.

If you are retired, semi-retired, or nearing retirement and feel called to serve your community, we invite you to volunteer with IVC San Diego.

Please reach out to Curran Gaughan, Regional Director, at 858-822-9814 or cgaughan@ivcusa.org.

IVC Volunteers are supported in their service journey and Christian faith by a unique reflection program which is rooted in the Jesuit tradition of Ignatian spirituality.

IVC’s communal and spiritual experiences set it apart from other volunteer opportunities. Transformation occurs for Ignatian Volunteers when they serve others and take time to reflect and share with each other about their service experiences.

We also value and welcome those whose spiritual journey is influenced by other traditions and practices. We believe that richness in community comes from the sharing of diverse spiritual beliefs and practices.

Directors of Works, including the former IVC Director of the San Diego Region, Margot Howard, met with Father General Arturo Sosa in Los Angeles to share information on our specific ministries within the Jesuits West Province.

We invite you to take some time from your day to listen to Fr. General Sosa speak and answer questions about how we may actualize the Universal Apostolic Preferences, especially now in this time of the Covid-19 Pandemic.
