Join the IVC National Capital Area Corps

The Ignatian Volunteer Corps® (IVC) provides men and women, most age 50 or better, opportunities to serve people who are poor and disadvantaged, providing hope, dignity and a brighter tomorrow. IVC matches the talents and skills of experienced adults with the greatest social needs of our time through meaningful service in partner agencies across the country.

IVC Volunteers become partners with the organization, professionally contributing to significant functions consistent with their skills and background.

Why an Ignatian Volunteer?

Volunteers recruited by IVC are:

• Experienced – Ignatian Volunteers have experience in the workplace, are accustomed to resolving problems, interfacing with others, reporting to supervisors and/or supervising others and, most of all, using their life-long talents wisely and effectively.
• Committed – Ignatian Volunteers commit to work one or two days a week, ten months of the year, sharing their unique skills that contribute to the organization’s mission.
• Reliable – Ignatian Volunteers have a sense of maturity and dependability to take on substantial responsibilities.
• Supported – IVC provides regular, on-going individual and networking support, which helps volunteers find deeper meaning in their volunteer service and sustains their work.

IVC members are supported in their work by a Spiritual Reflection Program rooted in the Jesuit tradition. The contribution of leadership, skills and life experience of the IVC volunteers make a real difference.
