On April 9, Regional Advisory Council Members, Service Corps Members, and friends gathered for IVC-Portland’s second annual service day. The group met at an organization called Maine Needs to lend a hand sorting donated clothing, hygiene products, and household items, and to help fill orders for recipients.
Individuals receiving donations from Maine Needs include those starting life from scratch, domestic abuse survivors, asylum seekers, and those facing financial hardship. The organization, which is located in Portland, Maine, started in 2020. It is a collective of volunteers who work in partnership with schools, caseworkers, nurses, and nonprofits to ensure that individuals and families receive what they need.
