(Proverbs 8 vs 22-36)
I walk slowly among the rustling trees
The cool breeze rises up to greet me
I know you are there by the river’s edge
Your enchanting song fills the evening air
Your alluring beauty suddenly appears
Softly you caress me in your waiting arms
You have always been there playing daily by
The flowing water taking delight in all creation
Your tender eyes see all my sorrow and sense
All my joy they know my hopes and fears
You comfort me with your motherly wisdom
And show me the way to my Father’s love
For when I embrace you I embrace life
When I listen to you I understand who I am
Your truth fills me and my soul soars free
“Wisdom waits at the water’s edge”
(Celtic saying)

Ralph Huse S.J. “The Mississippi River flows beneath the bluffs of the retreat center and thanks to Fr. Ralph’s advice I like to sit and watch the waters flow by and see what happens,” Moritz writes.
