Omaha IVC “tips their hat” to Fr. Kevin Schneider, SJ

by | May 16, 2024

Priests in general, but especially Jesuits wear many hats. They are called to serve in many roles: public speaker, spiritual leader or director, leadershipdeveloper, community outreach person, ministry coordinator, and of course perhaps the greatest of these, teacher. Fr. Kevin Schneider, SJ has worn all of these hats and more during his time in Omaha. (We won’t mention his affinity for Wisconsin, but you can imagine him in that hat, too).

Fr. Kevin has been invested in and contributed toward the growth of the Ignatian Volunteer Corps in Omaha for many years as a mentor, retreat leader, director of our mornings of reflection, and served as a council member. Our gratitude is immeasurable for his true contribution of self to our program, education and support of our members, and the promotion of our mission. IVC Omaha was honored to have him lead our end of year retreat on May 1, his final time to educate, guide and inspire us with his gift of self.

Fr. Kevin is leaving Omaha, taking a role at the Demontreville Retreat Center in Minnesota, which saddens all of us as we will miss his wit, kindness and generosity not only to IVC, but to so many in Omaha. Fr. Kevin touched lives in the Creighton University and Creighton Prep communities, the Ignatian Volunteer Corps, at the Cloisters on the Platte retreat center, and many, many lives within the Omaha community. We will miss you, Fr. Kevin. Thank you seems inadequate for all you have done, but nonetheless, we do have gratitude for your contributions and we tip our hat to you. May the road rise to meet you and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
