NEW ORLEANS – Firstly, staying safe. Most of our IVC community, particularly our volunteers, are included in the “vulnerable population” of this particular virus. Our first priority is to make sure that IVC activities do not create an unsafe environment for our members.
Chuck and Allene were able to take their work home to continue their service remotely. Others have been temporarily relieved of their service. Laura pivoted quickly to apply her sewing skills to make protective masks now in use by medical professionals at East Jefferson General Hospital and Notre Dame Hospice.
We are continuing to meet as a volunteer community, now twice monthly, via Zoom video conferencing. It’s not the same as meeting in person, but it’s been beautiful to stay in touch.
Our service corps members have this in common: they all look forward to meeting in person again and returning to direct service in our community!
