Welcome to IVC Milwaukee
Through the Ignatian Volunteer Corps, people are choosing to put their leadership experience, skill, wisdom, and faith into service with and for others.
IVC Milwaukee began in September 2016 with 4 generous individuals who wanted to make a difference in our community. Since then, we have grown into a dynamic service corps of 30 members serving in schools, food pantries, justice organizations, prison ministry, immigration support, housing, with disabled adults, and at-risk youth!
Our members come from a wide variety of backgrounds and professions. They share a strong desire to serve those in need, improve social conditions in our city, and deepen their faith in the Ignatian tradition. IVC members generally serve one or two days per week, 10 months per year.
Community serving partner organizations provide IVC members with meaningful work. Service placements are broad in scope and can include roles in administration, counseling, legal services, project management, teaching, finance, technology, and others.
IVC members are strengthened in their faith by IVC’s unique spiritual reflection program rooted in the Jesuit tradition of Ignatian Spirituality.
At the heart of the IVC program is a reflection process that is both spiritual and analytical. It guides Ignatian volunteers in the ongoing search for the presence of the living God. Our volunteers have the option to receive individual spiritual direction under the guidance of a trained spiritual reflector, participate in monthly group reflection meetings, and attend retreats or days of reflection during the course of the IVC service year. This process prepares and strengthens volunteers for the reality of working on a long-term basis in challenged communities and settings. In this way, we are serving others, growing in our own faith, making a difference in our community, and nurturing one another on the journey.
If you feel called to serve those in need, grow in faith, and join with generous others, please consider joining us today!
