Meet Our Honorees:

Steve Katsouros, S.J., is CEO and Founder of Come to Believe, which works with higher education partners in developing and launching two-year college models that provide a pathway for underserved students to receive four-year degrees. Fr. Katsouros became inspired to found CTB after initiating the Arrupe two-year college model while serving at Loyola University, Chicago. Arrupe College continues the Jesuit tradition of offering a rigorous liberal arts education to a diverse population, many of whom are the first in their family to pursue higher education. Graduation rates at CTB junior colleges are four to six times the national average, and over 80% of graduates transfer to four-year schools.
Fr. Katsouros has also served as the director of the Institute for Catholic Educational Leadership (ICEL) and associate dean of the School of Education at the University of San Francisco. From 2002-2011, Fr. Katsouros was president of Loyola, a coed Jesuit high school in Manhattan.
The transformative ministry of Come to Believe to make higher education available and accessible to students from low wealth backgrounds gives flesh to the social justice teachings of the Church and is in deep harmony with the IVC mission.

Dan Dougherty serves as President of Cristo Rey New York High School (CRNYHS) and is a member of the national Cristo Rey Network Board of Directors. One of 41 member schools in the national Cristo Rey Network, is a Catholic, co-ed college preparatory high school that educates students exclusively from underserved communities. CRNYHS’s innovative educational model combines rigorous academic courses with real-life work experiences in professional settings. CRNYHS’s high quality curriculum and work study program prepares students to succeed in college at rates far beyond peers from similar backgrounds.
Dan graduated from Harvard University with a concentration in American History. Dan spent three years in corporate life before embarking on his career in Catholic secondary education. He earned an M.S. in Educational Administration from St. John’s University. Dan also holds a Professional Certificate in Fundraising from New York University and a Professional Certificate from the Fr. Joseph O’Hare, S.J. Jesuit Teacher Leadership Program at Fordham University.
Dan began his career in education at his alma mater, Regis High School, initially serving as a college counselor and baseball coach and then as Dean of Students. Dan worked in the Jesuits’ Provincial Staff office, as Assistant for Secondary and Pre-Secondary Education. Dan fostered collaboration among member schools and served as a trustee for several institutions, including Cristo Rey New York, Fordham Preparatory School, New York Nativity Schools / Brooklyn Jesuit Prep and Loyola School. Dan also served at Xavier High School for three years where he served as Executive Vice President. Dan and his wife, Hee-Sun Hong, reside in the Yorkville section of Manhattan.
