The IVC St. Louis Advisory Council (AC) was re-established during the summer of 2015 in order to provide on-going support and counsel to the IVC St. Louis Program and its director. Twelve answered the “call” as Council members representing each constituency of IVC: 3 volunteers, 3 agency reps., 2 spiritual reflectors, 2 St. Louis community leaders and 2 IVC Program ex-officio reps.
Its main function will be to serve as a sounding board, offering ideas and expertise and giving the Director necessary advice. While they will not have fiscal oversight and are not ultimately responsible for the health and well-being of the Program, they may often take an active role in helping implement its goals and objective. The AC members can help identify needs in the St. Louis community where IVC can be of service and serve as a message multiplier in the region by spreading the Good News of IVC throughout our Region. The Advisory Council can assist also in growing both quantitatively and qualitatively volunteer membership, partner agencies and spiritual reflectors. As IVC grows in the metropolitan area it will be very helpful to have a growing number of supporters who have served on the Council and have an interest in continuing to support and champion the IVC.
The AC, in collaboration with the IVC Director and the Provincial’s Assistant for Social Ministries, serves in support of the IVC- St. Louis mission. Thus, in addition to offering guidance and recommendations to the Director, they could execute agreed-upon tasks and projects in support of the Program.
This Council held its first meeting on Tuesday, July 14th, 2015 and decided to meet quarterly. Throughout 2015 and 2016 a strategic plan for IVC St. Louis was developed for managing well the growth of IVC ST. Louis over the next three-five years. This Plan is now being implemented laying down a firm foundation for increased growth in both volunteers and the number of agencies we serve in the St. Louis community.
