Since the spring of 2009, Ignatian Volunteers have been established in the Diocese of Syracuse. We currently have volunteers working at service sites in and around Syracuse. These volunteers work at agencies that serve the poor, the homeless, immigrants, and refugees—those who are materially in need.
Each volunteer works with a specific agency during the year and we meet monthly to pray together and share our experiences. In addition, we each meet separately with a Spiritual Reflector to discuss how our volunteer activity affects our own lives. We also gather for an annual Spiritual Retreat and a mid-year day of reflection.
The IVC program affords volunteers the opportunity to give a much deeper meaning to their volunteer services. The needs of others, coupled with IVC, provide opportunity for those who are looking for meaningful retirement.
