Welcome to IVC Washington DC/Metro Maryland

To me, the faith-centered service of the IVC volunteers is a manifestation of the Second Commandment. This is ‘to love your neighbor as you love yourself’ in action, and it doesn’t get any better than that.

Welcome to one of the Ignatian Volunteer Corps’ oldest regions, which includes our Nation’s Capital and the Maryland counties of Montgomery, Prince George’s, Calvert, Charles and St. Mary. While it is a flagship region of IVC, DC/Metro Maryland is also one of IVC’s most vibrant and highly diverse regions.

Today, more than 25 mature women and men offering a wide range of life experiences are making a difference in the lives of those in their community who are most in need of assistance—the materially poor, the disenfranchised and marginalized, the afflicted and abused. Our numbers are growing. We are former teachers, scientists, accountants, non-profit executives, IT specialists, federal government officials, nurses, lawyers and social workers. Come join us as IVC volunteers and grow with us in many ways.
