Experience Making a Difference

Welcome to IVC Cincinnati

Greater Cincinnati Ignatian Volunteer Corps was founded by the Chicago Province of Jesuits in 2006 after their feasibility study in 2005 found the need for non-profits serving the poor to be great enough to recruit and sustain volunteers.

The Ignatian Volunteer Corps of Greater Cincinnati has been featured in the Catholic Telegraph (Archdiocese of Cincinnati, Ohio) and the Catholic Messenger (Diocese of Covington, Kentucky).  We have grown to 20 members who serve in 8 sites.

Our volunteers find:

  • Purposeful, fulfilling service—serving those in need 8-16 hours per week, 10 months a year
  • A faith-sharing community—monthly volunteer gatherings & service site companionship
  • A deepening relationship with God through reflection, spiritual direction & semi-annual retreats

IVC members serve the marginalized, working poor & disaffected through agencies such as Lydia’s House, Santa Maria Community Services & Tender Mercies. These volunteers bring their gifts of work experience, joy, humility & patience to bear every week, meeting folks who are struggling & in need.
