IVC Albany Ignite!

IVC Albany Ignite! Campaign

In June 2019, the Ignatian Volunteer Corps (IVC) National Board welcomed Albany, New York as its newest region for connecting Ignatian volunteers and local nonprofits in its unique mission and work. Four months later, ten individuals stepped forward to serve as Ignatian Volunteers, and nine non-profits submitted partnership requests. The ensuing pandemic was not an obstacle to growth but a motivator: IVC Albany has tripled in members and doubled with partners. Motivated by their faith, these men and women see the needs that exist in our community and have the desire to serve with their skills and wisdom that were honed through their work lives. Non-profit partners likewise see the benefits that an IVC member brings that will support their mission. As more individuals respond to the desire to serve and more non-profit organizations seek partnerships, IVC Albany is poised to move from its start-up phase to the next level of growth in service to others. To support this growth, IVC Albany seeks to raise an additional $60,000 over three years to increase capacity to serve both IVC members and nonprofit partners and help meet the many needs of people in the Capital District community.

Ignite! Campaign Goal

As we embark on our fourth year of service in the greater Capital District area, more non-profits are seeking the service of an Ignatian Volunteer and more men and women are step ping forward to serve and share in a faith community. IVC Albany’s Director, Kathleen Burgess, led the three-year development phase through the approval by the National Board in 2019 and was hired as the first director on a part-time basis. A former Jesuit Volunteer Corps member, Ms. Burgess’ background as an attorney and involvement with a variety of non-profit and faith-based organizations have been instrumental for this development and start-up phase. IVC Albany is seeking a Program Manager to join the IVC Albany community to assist the Director in key support areas including advancement, partner development, communications, and spiritual support of the Volunteer community. IVC invites you to pledge your support in the Ignite! campaign to raise $60,000 over the next three years to provide initial “seed funding” for this position while IVC Albany works to secure ongoing funding. Your commitment will help ensure that IVC Albany has the resources it needs to continue serving our Capital District community.
