Volunteer Opportunities in Northeastern Pennsylvania
The Ignatian Volunteer Corps (IVC) offers a deeper, better way to give back to the community. With our volunteer opportunities in Northeastern Pennsylvania, we offer adults in their encore years the opportunity to serve their local community with purpose and compassion. Our programs are geared toward the retired, semi-retired, or those looking for meaningful engagement by connecting with nonprofit organizations that need people’s time, experience, and heart.
IVC members volunteer one or two days a week from September through June in areas such as education, housing, elder care, immigration, and more. Along the way, they grow spiritually through reflection, community, and Ignatian values.
How We Serve in Northeastern Pennsylvania
IVC members utilize their inherent gifts and acquired skills to provide hope and stability to individuals and families marginalized by the economic, educational, and political realities impacting their lives. IVC Northeastern Pennsylvania partners with a growing network of nonprofit organizations that serve residents of Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, Hazleton, the Lehigh Valley, and surrounding communities.
These organizations count on IVC members to support mission-critical work in areas like:
- Education and tutoring
- Healthcare and mental health services
- Housing and homelessness prevention
- Immigration and refugee support
- Senior companionship and care
- Food access and nutrition services
Join us for behind-the-scenes support or direct interaction. IVC will help you find a service role where you can make a difference. Specific, professional training isn’t needed, just a willingness to serve others and grow. IVC brings volunteers with experience, dedication, and compassion to help those in need.
