IVC Board of Directors

The IVC National Board provides strategic vision and governance, ensuring that IVC continues to grow, serve, and sustain its mission.

Richard Kelly

Chair

Retired Managing Director, Mizuho Securities; Keswick, VA
I joined IVC’s board because I believe in the profound joy of connection and the ultimate goal of living forever with God. Throughout my life, I’ve been drawn to experiences that bring people together, across differences, in community. IVC allows me to continue building those connections in a meaningful way while helping myself and others prepare for the next life. It’s not just about doing good; it’s about sharing in the joy of being together and finding comfort in the knowledge that we are working toward something eternal.

Nancy Woodley

Chair

IVC Service Corps Member; former independent contractor for Fairfax County Schools; Arlington, VA
I joined IVC during a time when my faith was being tested, and I was searching for a way to reconnect with my community and purpose. IVC reminded me of a core value instilled by my parents—a life of service that goes beyond ourselves. Through IVC, I found a community that reawakened my spirituality and offered intellectual challenge, making me feel like I was coming home. Each step in my journey with IVC has deepened my sense of purpose, helping me grow and connect in new and meaningful ways.

Jim Tracy

Treasurer

CFO Consultant at Rucci, Bardaro & Falzone PC; Newton, MA
I joined IVC because, as I entered retirement, I was searching for something meaningful and lasting. Completing the 19th Annotation of the Spiritual Exercises led me to reflect on what I could do for Jesus and how I could live with a deeper orientation toward service. IVC offers a shared experience rooted in Ignatian spirituality, bringing together people who are also looking to make a lasting impact. For me, it’s a way to live out my faith in community, with purpose, and in a way that endures.

Mike McColloch

Secretary

Attorney; Bend, OR and Lynchburg, VA
I joined IVC’s board because it offers me a way to live out the two commandments that matter most to me: loving God and loving my neighbor. My initial involvement was practical—a request from my local region director to join the San Diego council—but that experience opened my eyes to the needs and opportunities in my community. Now, as a member of IVC’s national board, I am honored to continue this journey of service on a broader scale, embracing the call to serve others following the example of the Good Samaritan. IVC allows me to live out my faith in a way that connects me to others and to a mission that I believe in deeply

Brian Burke

Retired, Vice President Business Development Officer, Byline Bank; Greenwood Village, CO
I joined IVC’s board because I want to grow spiritually in community with people of good will—a pursuit that can be surprisingly difficult to find. In a culture where retirement is often centered on financial security, IVC offers something deeper: a chance to connect meaningfully, serve alongside others, and age with purpose. IVC allows me to be present for those who feel alone, to find light even in challenging times, and to live with intention as I enter this new chapter of life. I believe IVC can help us all feel that our life stands for something significant and that we are somehow making a valuable contribution to the world.

Jim Conroy, SJ

Spiritual Director, Loyola on the Potomac; Faulkner, MD
I co-founded IVC because I believe deeply that we are called—vocationally called—to step into the messiness of life and serve others. This desire to see and respond to the suffering of our brothers and sisters is, for me, a participation in God’s story in the world. IVC provides an opportunity for people of faith to live out their baptismal call, embracing humanity in all its brokenness and frailty. This work is grounded in the Beatitudes, embodying the heart of God through gratitude, generosity, and a commitment to make a difference. To me, IVC is a priesthood of service, answering the call to love, to help, and to serve.

John Cosgrove

CEO, AllOne Foundation & Charities; Scranton, PA
I believe, as Martin Luther King, Jr. said, that everyone can be great because everyone can serve. But I take it a step further—I believe that people need to be invited to serve, to feel included and valued. I joined IVC’s board because IVC is that invitation, offering people the chance to make a meaningful impact, even in small, achievable ways. I’ve seen throughout my life that simple acts can make an enormous difference, and IVC provides the perfect opportunity for people to step into that role and discover their own capacity to serve.

Melissa Collins Di Leonardo

Former VP of Communications, Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU); Arlington, VA
The beauty of IVC is that its intentional focus on service, community and faith gives meaning to so many lives. Being involved in the important work of the IVC network is to experience and witness the transformative power of service to others and to discover how faith can deepen our connections. I believe IVC’s commitment to serving those in need is having a profound impact and is helping to create a more just and peaceful world. It is a privilege to serve on the IVC board to help foster the organization’s mission and support its growth and direction.

C. Maury Devine

Retired President & Managing Director ExxonMobil Norway; Washington, DC
I believe in the power of building communities rooted in service. The world often sends older adults the message that they don’t matter or that they can be cast aside, but IVC offers a powerful antidote to that. I’m inspired by IVC’s focus on long-term service relationships and its ability to create lasting change in the organizations and communities we serve. My hope is to see IVC’s reach expand even further, rebuilding society on a foundation of service, both across the country and around the world.

Sarah Hendley Ferraro

Public Administration & Nonprofit Professional; Washington, DC
I joined IVC’s board because it aligns perfectly with my lifelong commitment to service and community. Having spent years with VISTA and AmeriCorps programs, I was drawn to IVC’s intentional focus on providing service opportunities for mature adults, particularly those navigating the post-50 life transition. It’s such a powerful stage of life to reflect, grow, and find purpose. What I believe truly sets IVC apart is its commitment to intentional community—helping people deepen their faith and relationships with others while serving meaningfully. IVC’s flexibility and ability to respond to the unique needs of both its members and the communities it serves make it an extraordinary model for volunteerism. For me, being part of IVC is a way to help others give back and grow in ways that are deeply fulfilling and transformative.

Henry Frank

Director of Communications, LifeFlight of Maine; Portland, ME
To me, IVC embodies a powerful integration of action and spiritual reflection—something that’s often hard to find. In my work with the Jesuits and through my own experiences in theology, I’ve often seen a tension where people are either focused on social justice or deep in prayer, but struggle to unite the two. I believe IVC strikes that perfect balance, offering a model that allows people to serve meaningfully while deeply connecting their faith to the experience. Through my connection with IVC, I’ve been continually impressed by the organization’s intentional spirituality and resilience, especially during challenging times. IVC provides a way to live out Jesuit spirituality in a way that is both impactful and sustainable.

Brian Gagnon

Partner, Guidehouse; Washington, DC
I believe Ignatian spirituality reveals a profound truth about the world: it points to a deeply personal relationship with Christ, which in turn models how we are called to relate to others—with patience, understanding, gentleness, and loving kindness. That personal relationship with Christ, nurtured by Ignatian spirituality, inspires, consoles, and motivates me to live out my faith in service to others. IVC embodies this truth, offering people an experience that not only connects faith to action but also sustains and feeds them for a lifetime.

J. Letty Garcia

Associate Director, Leadership Initiative, Harvard Business School; Cambridge, MA
I believe the Catholic Church’s mission is to be a universal community, welcoming everyone and uniting us through a shared faith. IVC lives out that mission by creating a space where people can come as they are, embracing differences as opportunities to learn from one another while focusing on Christ and service. When discerning my board membership, what really impressed me was how IVC combines this universal call with strong, values-driven leadership, ensuring the organization’s impact is both meaningful and sustainable. I’m honored to be part of an organization that so fully embodies the Church’s mission to serve.

Sharon Geno Wilson

President, National Multifamily Housing Council (NMHC), Washington, DC
We have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to harness the incredible resource of the Baby Boom generation. They’re living longer, they’re healthier, and they’re civically minded and well-educated—a generation with so much to give. IVC offers them the chance to channel their time and talents into meaningful service, benefiting both our communities and their own well-being. Research shows that people with purpose live healthier, stronger lives, and it’s in all of our best interests to keep this generation engaged mentally, socially, and physically. I’m honored to be part of an organization that not only taps into this potential but also strengthens the social fabric of our nation in such a vital way.

Sr. Georgette Lehmuth, OSF

Consultant, Catholic Development Council of The Nonprofit Alliance; Washington, DC
I’m with IVC because I was invited, and that invitation was meaningful. Being invited into something is personal—it’s a recognition that you care about the mission and can contribute to it. I said “yes” because IVC offers something truly unique: a way for the older generation to find purpose and meaning in the context of faith and spirituality. It’s not just about volunteering—it’s about being part of a community of faith that lives out the Gospel message of service and presence. For IVC corps members, their presence at their placement matters, and their presence in the IVC community matters. Together, this creates a spirituality that builds relationships and transforms lives. IVC represents an opportunity to be part of something deeply rooted in both faith and service, and I am grateful to have been invited into this mission.

John Swope, SJ

Executive Assistant to the Provincial of the USA East Jesuits; New York, NY
I believe IVC is deeply connected to the Gospel and rooted in compassion. IVC corps members bring their compassion to areas where it is most needed, helping organizations fulfill their own missions in an other-centered and transformative way. This work continues the tradition of service modeled by Jesus in the Gospels and carried forward by the disciples in the Acts of the Apostles. For people entering retirement, IVC also offers something extraordinary—it opens their world back up. In a time of life when it’s easy for the world to get smaller, IVC makes it big again, providing new purpose, relationships, and a chance to be part of something bigger. IVC is growing with a vision and urgency that speaks directly to men and women of faith who want to live their values and make a difference.

Jim Swope

Vice President, Columbia Container; Baltimore, MD
I joined IVC’s board because it combines two things that mean a great deal to me: a commitment to giving back and a deep connection to faith. There are many volunteer organizations out there, but what sets IVC apart is the Ignatian Spirituality that’s woven into our mission. It’s not just about doing good—it’s about helping corps members understand why their work matters on a deeper level. That’s what has drawn me further into IVC over the years: its faith-based commitment and the sense of satisfaction it brings to those who serve. As I enter this stage of my life, I see it as a time to give back, and I’m honored to be part of an organization that does such meaningful work.

Paul Tillman

Retired; former VP, Marketing, Finance, and Administration, IVC; Newark, DE
I deeply admire the organization’s mission and the people who bring it to life. Having worked at IVC and served as a corps member, myself, I’ve experienced firsthand the elegance of its business model—it harnesses the most abundant resource in our country: the time and talents of retired individuals. These are people with so much to give, and IVC provides them with a meaningful way to make a difference. What I’ve always appreciated most is IVC’s focus on accompaniment—walking alongside those in need, even when the challenges they face seem insurmountable. It’s humbling and inspiring work, and I’m proud to support the ‘little engine that could’ nonprofit as it continues to grow and strengthen its impact.

Marcus Washington

President, Washington Jesuit Academy; Washington, DC
I joined IVC’s board because it felt like a calling—a synergy with the people and mission that have shaped me throughout my life. The people on the board inspire a real sense of trust and shared purpose, and I’m excited to be part of something that matters so much. I’ve seen how vital it is for people, especially as they age, to have purpose—something to hold onto, something to channel their energy toward. IVC is a place where people’s wisdom, experience, and knowledge really matter. Their service is meaningful and they get to be part of a supportive, faith-filled community. I’m honored to be part of this mission and to help it continue to grow and thrive.
