A Message from Mary McGinnity, Executive Director

Dear Friends,Untitled

Love is in the air — and never more so than in the hearts of the men and women of IVC.  I am talking about authentic love, the kind St. Paul writes about. Love that’s patient, kind, humble and hopeful.

So many of you have accomplished so much in your lives. You have come to a point in your personal history when you can simply enjoy the fruits of all your labors. Yet you choose to be an Ignatian volunteer. You choose to share your gifts, your very self with those who have the least, with those who would be discarded by society.

You choose to love.

In this issue of Connections, we feature IVC volunteer, Dr. James Goedert. I am awed by his humility and by his capacity to use his gifts as a researcher and a healer to serve the marginalized and forgotten.  And yet, everywhere I journey to meet the men and women of the Corps, I realize he is not unique among you. Authentic love is the thread that runs through our community.

I am awed by your love.

May you be abundantly blessed in this month of Valentines.

With love,
