Our 39 volunteers began Fall 2016 serving at 25 agencies and schools and accompanied by 24 generous spiritual reflectors.  What a wonderful, faith-filled community of partnerships have come together this year to fulfill our Mission:

“The Ignatian Volunteer Corps (IVC) provides mature men and women the opportunity to serve the needs of people who are poor, to work for a more just society, and to grow deeper in Christian faith by reflecting and praying in the Ignatian tradition.”

The past three years have flown by since becoming the Director of IVC St. Louis…and what a blessed time these years have been for me.  Having served as an IVC volunteer (2011-12) I knew well what I was saying “yes” to.  What I didn’t know then were all the incredible folks who make up this whole community (volunteers, partner agencies, spiritual reflectors, advisory board members).  I can honestly say that each one is special and and brings to life the spirit of St. Ignatius through their “YES” to sharing their talents through service, prayerful reflection and fellowship – with one another and with those they serve.

And so as we enter into this time of Thanksgiving, I am truly grateful for the blessings and graces received each day through our IVC St. Louis community and those we serve.

Vicki Simon, Director IVC- St. Louis
