Regional Director Report

March 2017

Dear Friends,

As we celebrate one year in service, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to our volunteers, human service agencies, partners, and members of our Advisory Council for your hard work, dedication, and commitment to IVC Buffalo.

Building our regional office to make a difference in our community takes time, focus, and steadfast partnerships.  Let’s take a moment to reflect on our progress.

We have three volunteers sharing their expertise with three partner agencies, five volunteers waiting to be placed, and 15 volunteers in discernment.  In addition to meeting once a month to discuss their experience and faith, our group of volunteers reflected on the grace of their spiritual growth at a day-long retreat in January.   We also have arranged for Spiritual Reflectors to meet one-on-one with the volunteers and support them on this journey.    Our next retreat is April 24th at Christ the Seminary.  All are welcome to join.  Please contact me at mwyse@ivcusa.org.

IVC’s current placement site partners are excited about the commitment, professionalism, and strong work ethic our volunteers bring to their organizations.  Collaboration is key in making changes for the clients these agencies serve, and IVC Buffalo is here to support them in their work.

Additionally, our Advisory Council, which has been reorganized for efficiency, is actively working on recruiting volunteers and service site placements, identifying potential funding opportunities, and constantly updating our website.  With the support of the IVC national office, Buffalo also now has IT Support, office equipment, space at St. Michael’s parish, and strong support from the local Jesuit Community.

We are thrilled that our hard work is garnering meaningful attention throughout the community.  IVC Buffalo has recently been featured on AM Buffalo, in Western New York Catholic Magazine, as well as in the Diocese of Buffalo Annual Report.  We have also been invited to many local parishes to share our mission in person and in their bulletins.

I am proud of the strides we have made in our first year as a regional office and look forward to continuing to build on this momentum.

Sincerely,

Minnie Wyse

Regional Director
