To join IVC in our mission and ministry, first contact the regional director in your city area to discuss the program.

If IVC appears to be a good fit for you, the next step is to submit an application and interview with the regional director. The IVC application asks about your background and work experience, a self-evaluation, two references (one work reference and one spiritual reference) and other questions that help us determine several service placements for you to consider.

Once the completed application is returned to IVC, you will be contacted about an in-person interview. You may also wish to attend an information session, monthly meeting or day of reflection to get to know IVC.  IVC requires a significant commitment.  In fact, our partner service sites often consider our volunteers to be adjunct staff and truly rely on the volunteer to keep whatever hours they have agreed to work.  So this is a process of discernment.

Your regional director will help you determine which IVC partner service site will suit your talents and their needs.  You may visit several sites.  You will also be paired with a spiritual reflector trained in Ignatian spirituality.  Your service will usually begin in September or January, though some regions may have rolling admission.

Have more questions?  Please visit the FAQ section of the website or contact the regional director in your area.
